Casa Hogar de los Ninos is an orphanage in Tijuana Mexico that was founded (and is currently run) by Tony and his wife Pilar. It is a beautiful, brand new facility which houses 50 children as well as run-away mothers. The orphanage provides incredible resources for each child, such as music and tae-kwon-do lessons, tutors, and psychiatrists. There is even a fitness gym for the older children. The orphanage also provides each child with a school uniform, 3 meals a day, and a positive environment in which to grow. Some of these children have parents and go home on the weekends, but they are all living in the orphanage out of great need.

While the daily routine of the children is very well structured, the volunteer responsibilities are often open-ended. Volunteers are greatly needed, appreciated, and also are well taken care of. Volunteers can do a variety of tasks such as assist with meals, walk the kids to and from school, help with homework, play games, organize events, do arts and crafts, read with the children, help in special needs classes, or anywhere else that they see fit. The special needs classroom was built last year next to the orphanage, and already it has 20 special needs children from the community. There are also construction projects on site that can always use an extra hand.
