We are an independent, non-religious and politically neutral non-governmental organization (NGO) working towards improving the living conditions of disadvantaged children and families in Ecuadorian communities (South America).

CIELO AZUL (Blue Sky in Spanish) began working in Ecuador in the year 2000. Since then, various projects in more than 20 indigenous communities around Otavalo have been initiated.

Our work is based on the fundamental right to education according to Human Rights Conventions. Our projects aim to give people this right by helping them to help themselves, with the goal of making individuals and communities independent by giving them skills that they can use throughout their lives.

It is important to us that all of our activities are carried out in collaboration with the local inhabitants; only then are lasting and fruitful relationships established, providing the foundations for successful projects.

To obtain these goals, we support volunteers willing to work and live with the communities where we have established projects. We offer motivated and creative people the opportunity to use their capabilities to the benefit of the indigenous population and, under expert guidance, will help volunteers to find a suitable role in one of our various projects.
